Lawrence Healthcare Provides Lawrence County and surrounding areas with quality healthcare through Lawrence Memorial Hos

Since Lawrence Memorial Hospital opened its doors more than sixty years ago, we have expanded our services to provide quality health and wellness services to meet the needs of our community. The original commitment and foresight of our local physicians and county leaders are still a driving force within our organization today, prompting us to find new and effective ways to improve the overall health of the people we serve. Our slogan is—and will continue to be—“People you know, caring for the people you love” because, as with most small communities, our physicians, employees and staff are members of the same community as the patients we serve. That is why Lawrence Memorial Hospital has shown a commitment to implementing state of the art equipment, services, and community programs that improve the quality of life for Lawrence County families. We feel it is necessary to take these extra steps towards making our “home” a better place. Lawrence Healthcare provides Lawrence County and surrounding areas with quality healthcare through Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Family Medical Center, and our Specialty Clinic. The flagship facility, Lawrence Memorial Hospital, serves as a 25-bed, critical access hospital, complete with a full-service laboratory, radiology department, 24-hour emergency department and a swingbed program, while also offering sleep disorders testing and rehabilitative services. Lawrence Hall Health and Rehabilitation serves as a 150-bed long term care facility, offering 24 hour skilled nursing care, a memory care unit, and both long term and short term rehabilitation.. Congratulations to one of our first Cardiac Rehab graduates, Marilyn Goodwin! Marilyn had open-heart surgery in August and began cardiac rehab October 15th. Here is what she had to say about her experience:

“I have completed 36 units under the supervision of Dr. Cooper and Therapists Angel, April, Abby, and Sheila. These ladies are very knowledgeable and easy to work with. They have helped me set goals that challenge me and to focus on reaching those goals. Because of their leadership and encouragement, I feel that I am stronger and have more energy to complete my goals at home. I am graduating today and want to say thank you to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for providing this service for residents of Lawrence County.”

Thank you Marylin for trusting us with your care and congratulations on this huge accomplishment!

We are thrilled to announce our latest BEE Award winner Shana Whitlock! Shana is a part of our amazing materials management team. Here is what a coworker had to say about her.

“Shana has a smiling greeting for everyone she meets in the hallway. She goes above and beyond for all departments to make sure they are stocked with supplies. For the last couple of weeks she has done my ordering for me. Once when I was on vacation and Christmas week she realized I didn’t have my order in yet and did it for me and let me know. She keeps our shelves in our supply room very beats well of these things have not been asked of her to do nor is it her job to do it all, she does does. She really helps the department keep going.”

Thank you for all that you do Shana!

The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way. To learn more, visit DAISYFoundation.org

Please say thank you by sharing your story of how a nurse made a difference you will never forget!
