Join us Thursday, November 6th at 12 PM for a Live Unexplained Infertility Q&A with fertility doctor Riwa Sabbagh, MD!

Amenorrhea is the medical term for absent menstrual periods—and it can sometimes signal underlying issues that affect fertility.

✨ Primary amenorrhea: when periods never begin by age 16–18, often due to genetic, hormonal, or anatomical conditions.
✨ Secondary amenorrhea: when regular periods stop for 3+ months, caused by factors like stress, PCOS, hormonal changes, excessive exercise, eating disorders, or uterine scarring (Asherman syndrome).

Amenorrhea may interfere with ovulation and make it harder to conceive—but the good news is that treatment depends on the underlying cause, and many patients go on to achieve successful pregnancies with the right care.

💛 If you’re missing periods, our team at Boston IVF can help uncover the cause and guide you toward solutions.

What’s a “euploid” embryo — and why does it matter?

🧬 A euploid embryo has the right number of chromosomes — which makes it more likely to implant and grow into a successful pregnancy.

So… how many do you need for a good chance of success?
👉 Three euploid embryos gives most patients a strong shot at pregnancy.

🎥 Dr. Samuel Pauli breaks it down — and explains why embryo genetics can help us personalize and improve your IVF journey.

🔬 Groundbreaking research from our team at !

At this year’s Scientific Congress in San Antonio, Francesca Barrett, MD, MBA, a third-year fellow at IVI RMA North America, presented new findings on recurrent pregnancy loss after frozen embryo transfers (FETs) with chromosomally normal embryos.

Among more than 21,000 patients, only about 2% experienced multiple consecutive pregnancy losses — and importantly, their chances of success in future transfers were not meaningfully reduced.

💡 The takeaway: this study offers hope and reassurance for patients navigating this challenging experience, highlighting that a future successful pregnancy is still very possible.

🔬 Groundbreaking research from our team at !

At this year’s Scientific Congress in San Antonio, Devika Sachdev, MD, a second-year fellow at IVI RMA North America, presented new findings on whether an early rise in progesterone during ovarian stimulation affects IVF outcomes.

After analyzing data from more than 14,000 cycles, the study found no meaningful differences in embryo development.

💡 The takeaway: an early progesterone rise is relatively common, and reassuringly, it doesn’t reduce the chances of success in the embryology lab.

🔬 Groundbreaking research from our team at !

At this year’s Scientific Congress in San Antonio, @[O6BeiUIFRT], MD, in collaboration with Emily Mounts of Juno Genetics, presented new findings on embryos with segmental aneuploidy — when small pieces of chromosomes are missing or duplicated.

In a study of 176 frozen embryo transfers, 58% resulted in a positive pregnancy test, but only 28% led to a live birth.

💡 The takeaway: while embryos with segmental aneuploidy can sometimes result in a healthy baby, their overall chances of success are significantly lower, offering valuable insights to help guide patients and clinicians in fertility care.

🔬 Groundbreaking research from our team at !

At this year’s Scientific Congress in San Antonio, Denny Sakkas, PhD, and colleagues presented a multicenter study examining how PGT-A provider strategies influence embryo selection and IVF outcomes.

Analyzing 40,308 blastocyst biopsies and 8,491 euploid embryo transfers, the team found that non-standardized diagnostic thresholds across providers can lead to significant differences in euploidy rates, embryos available for transfer, and live birth outcomes.

💡 The takeaway: these findings underscore the need for greater standardization in preimplantation genetic testing, ensuring more consistent, accurate results and better guidance for patients on their IVF journey.
