What does “be-tween” feel like for you?
Is it awkward, challenging, sad or exciting? Is it all of those feelings, maybe even at once, when you really take a moment to focus on what it means to be in-between childhood and adolescence?
Against the backdrop of Judy Blume’s iconic coming-of-age story “Are You There God, It’s Me Margaret.” I’m inviting mothers and daughters (aunties, grandmothers or other female caregivers) to come share in the conversation around what it means to belong, and what it feels like to be a ‘tween.
wellgirl is hosting a series of events this month to connect and share stories as we navigate this journey through puberty and adolescence together:
🩷 FREE Mother & Daughter Zoom gathering March 8, 4–5pm
(this is a private invitation-only zoom that all may join, near or far)
🩷 Mother/Daughter Movie Screening Event (Waltham - Friday March 27th)
🩷 Self-paced Reading & Discussion Guide for Mothers & Daughters

Please sign up with interest in any of these upcoming events, or around the topic of puberty, so you can be sure the details get to you, and you are able to participate. Likewise, if you know of someone who might be interested, near or far, please forward this post or link to them. I’m hoping to see you all! Suggested age for these topics & conversations is 10–14 years old.
Puberty and being ‘tween is about so much more than getting your period even though that’s where you’re all heading whether you want to go there or not, wink. The transition through puberty connects us across generations and amongst peers; it is a sign that you do, in fact, belong. Expect conversations around body & mood changes, yes, but also a lot about friendships, family, self-esteem and cultural influences.
