In recognition of November as Alzheimer's Awareness Month, Senior Care Matters recently visited the Alzheimer's Foundation of America's new location in Amityville, where we met with President Chuck Fuschillo to discuss the organization's initiatives. During the interview, Chuck spoke about the latest diagnostic and screening tools offered by AFA. Additionally, we toured the facility, observing the social daycare program and meeting with the support staff who provide assistance to families and loved ones.

The insightful conversation instilled hope that key lawmakers will prioritize the welfare of our most vulnerable populations. Senator Rivera expressed interest in the agency's perspective on caring for homebound families and is bringing forth legislative action to assist in the needed change for us all. Alex sustained a traumatic brain injury resulting from a car accident that left him with muscle atrophy and non-verbal. Alex's narrative exemplifies courage, determination, and unwavering love, demonstrating how individuals can thrive in their own homes with adequate care and support.
