Abilities First is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the needs of over 1,300 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities from preschool through adulthood throughout the Hudson Valley. Founded in 1962, Abilities First is a not-for-profit organization serving the needs of the community, as well as those with developmental disabilities, from pre-school through adulthood. Abilities First has had a long-term commitment of providing a cohesive culture of compassion, empowerment and respect for people with a variety of disabilities through educational, vocational, residential and habilitation services.

We were honored to welcome author Stephanie Lock, who shared her book If Goldfish Were Bluebirds: A story about self-acceptance. Through her message, students explored the importance of embracing who they are, celebrating differences, and finding confidence in their own unique strengths.

Staci volunteers across multiple sites—helping prepare meals, assisting with deliveries, and spending time with seniors through art and conversation. Spring is in the air at Myers Corners Education Center—and our students are ready for it! 🌷☀️

From getting excited about warmer days ahead to exploring all things flowers, sunshine, and maybe even dreaming about a fun boat ride! Hands-on activities, bright colors, and big smiles are helping us welcome the season in the best way possible!
