In celebration of World Book Day, we’re highlighting a powerful story written by an autistic author 💙

Life on the Bridge by Kaelynn Partlow offers an honest, heartfelt look into the lived experience of autism—sharing both the challenges and strengths that shape identity, connection, and growth.

Books like this matter.

They help shift perspectives, build understanding, and center voices that deserve to be heard.

If you’re looking to expand your reading list this month, we also encourage you to explore

—a collection of books written by autistic authors/authors with autism, across all ages and experiences.

Because autism stories are best told by those who live them.

🌎💙 Happy Earth Day! 💙🌎

Today is a reminder that small actions can make a big impact—whether it’s spending time outdoors, reducing waste, or caring for the spaces we share.

At Gateway, we value creating environments that support growth, connection, and well-being—for our learners, our families, and our community.

As we celebrate Autism Acceptance Month, it’s also a great time to reflect on how we can build a more inclusive world for everyone—one that is kind, supportive, and sustainable. 🌱

April 18th is Adult Autism Awareness Day 💙

Autism doesn’t end in childhood. Autistic adults/Adults with Autism continue to navigate a world that isn’t always built with them in mind—and their voices, experiences, and needs matter.

Today is a reminder to:
• Listen to autistic adults/adults with autism
• Promote inclusion across workplaces and communities
• Challenge outdated assumptions about autism
• Support autonomy, dignity, and meaningful opportunities

Awareness is important—but acceptance, understanding, and action are what truly make a difference.

We’re so excited to share that Gateway ABA Therapy LLC and The Light will be sponsoring the ABA C.A.R.E.S. Summit this August 💙

Even more special—two of our own will be speaking at this incredible event:
✨ Ja’nae Fortes
✨ Melissa Rigby

At Gateway, we believe the ABA workforce deserves better—better support, better resources, and better systems that center compassion, dignity, and meaningful care.

That’s why being part of ABA C.A.R.E.S. means so much to us. Their mission, vision, and values are deeply aligned with ours, and we’re proud to stand alongside others working to move our field forward.

We can’t wait to be in Boston - connecting, learning, and growing together.

Will we see you there?

Communication can look different for everyone—and every form of communication is valid. 💙

American Sign Language (ASL) can be a powerful tool in supporting early communication, especially for individuals who may experience challenges with verbal language. By providing a visual and accessible way to communicate, ASL can help bridge the gap between what someone wants to express and what they are currently able to say.

For some children, introducing sign language early on can support communication development, reduce frustration, and create more opportunities for connection with caregivers and peers. It can also be especially helpful for preverbal children, allowing them to express their needs before spoken language develops.

For autistic individuals, ASL may offer an alternative way to communicate thoughts, needs, and emotions—supporting more meaningful interactions and increased independence.

At Gateway, we value and support all forms of communication, including spoken language, sign language, AAC, and more. Every individual deserves to be heard and understood.

A special thank you to our speech team, Kylee Y. and Amanda for helping highlight the role of ASL in supporting communication.
