đŸș This is a Lykoi — The Cat That Looks Like a Little Werewolf! đŸ˜ŒđŸŒ•

Known as the “werewolf cat,” the Lykoi is a rare natural mutation of the domestic shorthair. Its patchy fur gives it that wild, scruffy look — but don’t be fooled, it’s 100% cat.

Despite their eerie appearance, Lykois are affectionate, playful, and surprisingly loyal. They even act a bit like dogs, following their owners around the house.

✹ Fun Fact: The name Lykoi comes from the Greek word for “wolf.” And yes, their fur naturally sheds in patches, creating that spooky look!

To finish out National Veterinary Technician week, we are highlighting Co-lead Vet Assistant Marissa.

Marissa is currently majoring in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and hoping to go to Vet School.

Marissa says, " I want to go into the vet field not just because I love animals, but because I want people to be able to love their pets longer, just like how my rottweiler with Addisons Disease was saved by a vet who gave her a longer life. Now I am debating on going into orthopedics because my Anatolian Shepherd has hip dysplasia. I want to be the vet that families can rely on to love their pets longer. "

Marissa loves to learn about new things and works hard to fill the shoes she's been given by her vets. She works hard to achieve her goals and to make everyone to be proud. Marissa is sure she will become a vet one day, because she already has doctor handwriting!

Look for Marissa to be playing with your pups and kitties to make their experience here as fun as possible!

Today, for National Veterinary Technician Week, we are highlighting Veterinary Assistant Alexis. I will let her introduce herself.

“Hey y’all, I’m a two-time graduate of Fort Valley State University and planning to head to vet school next year to hopefully become an exotic animal veterinarian. I love being part of a career that saves lives—both human and animal—because the bond we share with our furry (and sometimes not-so-furry) friends is something truly special.

I have two senior pups of my own, Twix and Midnight, who keep my heart full and my hands busy! Working at Houston Lake Animal Hospital feels like family—it’s a private owned clinic where we really get to know our patients and their people. I also love that we work alongside Pawsome Southern Rescue, saving these animals and giving them another chance at a furever home. Every day I get to do something that makes a difference, and that’s why I love what I do. "

You will find Alexis eagerly learning as much as she can about the disease processes and issues we deal with in pets in her preparation to attend Vet School.

Today we highlight Tosha, who is our co- lead Veterinary Assistant. Tosha has been working in Veterinary Medicine a little over a year, and her enthusiasm for the field has helped her learn and grow by leaps and bounds.
Tosha says, "Working with animals is truly my passion. I love being part of a team that helps them live happier, healthier lives"
Tosha has 3 dogs at home, including Gary, our rescue tetanus puppy, whom she adopted after spending weeks caring for him. She says they all keep her smiling and remind her every day why she does what she does.
You can often find Tosha comforting and loving on our sickest hospitalized patients.
Please join us in wishing Tosha a Happy Veterinary Technicians Week!

Today's funny.
