Did You Know? Prioritizing Self-Care During the Holiday Season

The holidays can bring joy, stress, exhaustion, or even grief—and all of those feelings are valid. Taking care of your mental and emotional well-being during this season is essential, not optional.

These self-care reminders are shared with support from the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), highlighting simple, meaningful ways to protect your energy, set boundaries, and give yourself permission to rest.
Remember: self-care doesn’t have to be perfect or complicated, small moments of care can make a big difference.

Thank you to DBHDD for providing valuable resources and guidance to support individuals, families, and communities throughout the holiday season.

Three years ago, Patrick Tillman started his journey as a Forensic Peer Mentor at Dooly State Prison — never knowing he’d meet someone who would change everything. That someone was Mr. Darryl Curry.

Together, they built a culture of hope, wellness, and connection inside those walls. Two years later, Darryl got his clemency review, transferred to Patrick’s center, and kept doing the work — this time preparing him for freedom.

After 27 years inside, on November 20, 2025, Darryl walked out those same gates a free man.
“Guided by faith, prepared by struggle, and ready to serve.” — Darryl

This story is a reminder that recovery and redemption are always possible! Shoutout to FPM Patrick for all the hard work and dedication!
