Heart of Georgia Hospice

Heart of Georgia Hospice The Heart of Georgia Hospice Difference

At Heart of Georgia Hospice, we are proud to be the only independent nonprofit hospice in the Middle Georgia area.

Heart of Georgia Hospice the only independent, non-profit, Faith-based ministry Hospice program in the Middle Georgia Area serving people of all faiths and beliefs since 1984. We offer comprehensive hospice services to support our patients, their families, and the community in meaningful and compassionate ways. My Story:
This unique program captures the life stories of our terminally-ill patients on digital audio, as told in their own words. These recordings become cherished keepsakes, offering families the chance to forever hear their loved one’s voice and personal reflections. Casserole Ministry:
We provide meals to patients and families in need of extra support, especially for those without a church or community network. This is just one of the many ways we care for the whole person, mind, body, and spirit. Camp WINGS:
Each year, we host Camp WINGS, a free bereavement camp for children ages 6-17 who have lost a loved one. This special camp offers a safe space for healing, growth, and connection with peers who share similar experiences. Annual Memorial Service:
In December, we hold a touching Memorial Service to remember and honor the loved ones of those who have been part of our journey. This is a time for families to gather, reflect, and celebrate the lives of those we’ve cared for. Thrift Store:
Our Thrift Store, located on Watson Blvd behind the old Chick-fil-A in Warner Robins, provides critical support to our mission. Every purchase helps ensure we can continue offering free services to our patients and their families. Your contributions make a difference, as we never send a bill to our patients. Serving 10 Counties:
We proudly serve Houston, Macon-Bibb, Bleckley, Crawford, Dooly, Macon, Peach, Pulaski, Taylor, and Twiggs counties, providing compassionate, high-quality care where it’s needed most. We’re here to serve our community with heart, offering the highest standard of hospice care as we continue to make every moment matter for our patients and their families.

Gerald’s Law has been formally reintroduced to Congress as standalone bill to permanently protect burial benefits for veterans who receive VA-furnished hospice care outside of a VA facility, including care at home.

At Heart of Georgia Hospice, we proudly serve many veterans each year and work closely with the VA to ensure compassionate end-of-life care without jeopardizing the benefits they earned through service.

Veterans deserve choice, dignity, and clarity at the end of life.

Innovation continues to shape hospice care in meaningful ways. Hospice Savannah, Inc. is leading the charge with their use of Virtual Reality in hospice and bereavement care. It is incredible to see how VR is helping support patients, families, and communities.

Today is National Hugging Day. At the end of life, being able to hold, hug, and stay close to the people you love matters deeply. Hospice supports families by providing care at home, where connection, presence, and physical comfort can remain part of everyday moments.

Stacey is our longest tenured employee with 29 years at Heart of Georgia Hospice, starting back when we were still Hospice of Houston County. She exemplifies everything a hospice worker should be, and we are honored to be the place she takes her CNA talents each week. Thank you for all you do, Stacey!

🌟Tribute Tuesday: Honoring Stacey Rush🌟

Today we want to honor Stacey Rush. Stacey lives in Perry with the love of her life, Danny Rush. In February, they will celebrate 12 years of marriage. They met while Stacey was caring for Danny’s grandmother in hospice, which reflects her servant’s heart from the very beginning. Together, they have six children and twelve grandchildren.

Stacey has been a CNA with Heart of Georgia Hospice for 29 years, faithfully caring for patients and families with compassion and dignity. She holds a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration and is currently working toward her degree in Medical Billing and Coding. For the past five years, she has also worked several days a month at Emory as a Critical Care Tech.

Although she has opportunities to move into positions within her degree, God has placed it on her heart to continue serving where she is and caring for others at the bedside. Stacey also owns and operates Sunflower Haven Caregivers and is deeply involved in ministry at Living Water Full Gospel Church.

Stacey truly spreads sunshine wherever she goes with her smile, kindness, and positive attitude. She is a beautiful example of a true servant’s heart.

Your kindness and faithfulness make a lasting difference in so many lives. Our community is grateful for you. 🌻

Our Story

In addition to In-home Hospice Care, we offer several other services to our patients, their families and the community. The Heart of Georgia Difference... My Story - A unique program that captures the life stories of terminally-ill patients on digital audio, as told by patients themselves. This can be a treasured keepsake by family, hearing their loved one's story in their own words. "Casserole Ministry" - Providing food to those in our program who are in need of this type of support or who may have no church support. Camp WINGS - Annual bereavement camp for children ages 6-16 who have lost a loved one. "Memorial Service" - A remembrance service each December that memorializes the loved ones of those in attendance. Inpatient Care - Our peaceful inpatient care facility features six beautifully decorated patient suites with private bath facilities, meal services, 24-hour family kitchen and area equipped with a TV and Internet access. Family members are welcome to spend the night and pets are welcomed at designated times. A peaceful chapel invites all faiths for gentle reflection and prayer. Thrift Stores - We have two thrift stores. One located on Watson Blvd behind the Chic-Fil-A in Warner Robins and in Byron in the Peach Outlets. Please shop with us! We have daily sales and discounts. Every penny goes into supporting our patients and their families. We will never send our patients a bill and this is one of the many ways we are able to support that mission.
