Dr. Travis Boyd, a local plastic surgeon and member of the Piedmont Macon medical staff, recently performed the hospital’s first immediate lymphatic reconstruction on a breast cancer patient.

The two-part procedure began with a breast surgery performed by Keith Martin, M.D., followed by Dr. Boyd reconnecting the lymphatic channels under the patient’s arm. This groundbreaking surgery in Middle Georgia significantly reduces the risk of patients developing lymphedema.

Congratulations to Dr. Boyd, Dr. Martin, and the Piedmont Macon Medical Center OR team for this successful procedure and for making a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients!
