Working on our sounds can be FUN 🤍
When kids can see what they’re saying, it makes a big difference! Using visual cues like a picture of the item and the letters that make up the word helps connect the sound to meaning.
Seeing the picture supports vocabulary and comprehension, while seeing the letters builds early literacy skills. When children look at the written word, they start to notice how sounds match to letters, that’s called phonemic awareness and letter-sound correspondence.
This helps them:
✨ Hear the individual sounds in words
✨ Understand that sounds connect to letters
✨ Build stronger reading and spelling foundations
✨ Feel more confident when practicing tricky sounds
Making speech practice multisensory (seeing it, saying it, sometimes even touching or tapping it out) keeps learning engaging and helps those skills stick!
Speech + literacy = a powerful combo 💛
