October is Filipino American History Month
This month, we are proud to celebrate Gloria, a beloved member of our Pearl Community. Born in the Philippines as one of seven siblings, Gloria grew up as the middle child in a lively and musical household. She has always had a passion for traveling, listening to music, and singing — talents that brought her joy and even led her to win several singing contests back home in the Philippines. Gloria is also known for her incredible cooking skills and love for karaoke. Over the years, Gloria has called San Diego, CA, Las Vegas, NV, and Midvale, UT home. In the 1980s, she and her husband spent time in Las Vegas as full-time gamblers, with a special knack for poker and the slot machines. Their success at the tables was so remarkable that it helped them build their home in Utah, where her husband was originally from.
Even better, Gloria has formed a unique and meaningful bond with Carlos from Enhabit Home Health, who shares her Filipino heritage. This shared cultural connection has helped strengthen their relationship and created powerful motivation during therapy sessions, all working toward improving her quality of life.
We honor Gloria’s vibrant spirit and the rich cultural heritage she brings to our community. 💛
