Meet your new midweek therapist…
🐪 Karl the Coping Camel

We listen and we don’t judge.

…but if you’ve been running on empty, overthinking everything, and calling it “just a busy week” — Karl sees you 👀

Midweek check-in 🧠✨
You don’t have to fix everything today.
You just have to keep going.

🐪 Karl’s reminders for you:
• Take a deep breath (yes, right now)
• Drink some water 💧
• Do one small thing — that’s enough
• Give yourself a little grace today

You’re not behind.
You’re human.

Drop a 🐪 if you’re making it through the week one step at a time.
We’re right there with you.

For many clinicians, Dissociative Identity Disorder is still misunderstood—often portrayed as a punchline, a plot twist, or a Hollywood stereotype.

But therapists who work closely with dissociation know something very different: the distinct parts clients bring into therapy are not “pathology” to erase. They’re a brilliant adaptation to overwhelming trauma. As Sally Maslansky and Dan Siegel reminds us, these parts hold important information and help clients survive when life feels unbearable.

Read more of Sally Maslansky's thoughts on what it really takes to help clients with DID heal: building safety and trust, working skillfully with dissociated parts, and supporting clients as they integrate their experiences on their own terms.

🚨Sometimes it’s not that you’re “too much”…
it’s that your nervous system is overwhelmed.

And no one ever taught you how to regulate it.

In a world that moves fast, expects more, and rarely pauses—your body is doing its best to keep up.
But healing doesn’t happen in chaos… it happens in moments of safety.

This quick exercise is a simple way to reset your nervous system in real time.
No pressure. No perfection. Just a moment to come back to yourself.

Take 60 seconds today.
Breathe. Reset. Reground.

You deserve to feel safe in your own body. 🤍

OWNER/FOUNDER

Hi there. And thanks for your interest in working with me. Please let me introduce myself. I’m Mike. Not only am I a counselor, but I’m also a father, and a retired US Navy veteran.

I hold a Master’s degree in social work from Arizona State University and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Maryland University College. My clinical experience includes helping people work through many different issues, including anxiety, substance use/abuse, depression, PTSD, sexual trauma, and anger issues. I have also successfully worked with couples who are trying to keep their relationship together as well as those who want to find ways to effectively co-parent after a relationship is over. I am trained in EMDR, DBT, and cognitive behavioral therapy. I also use Gottman-related techniques in my work with couples.

I really and truly care about the people I work with. Those who have worked with me tend to describe me as genuinely warm, caring, understanding, and interactive. I hope you do too.

Hello. I’m Shelby Jenkins an LPC candidate, a U.S. Army veteran and a therapist specializing in trauma-informed care for children, adolescents, and adults. I am passionate about helping clients feel safe, supported, and empowered as they work through life’s challenges and move toward healing. I believe therapy works best when you feel truly seen, heard, and understood, and I strive to create a space that feels warm, steady, and nonjudgmental.

Much of my experience has focused on supporting individuals impacted by complex trauma, childhood abuse, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and difficulties with emotional regulation. I understand that trauma affects not only thoughts and emotions, but also the body’s response to stress and survival. For that reason, I integrate evidence-based approaches with a strong understanding of the mind-body connection, helping clients develop practical coping skills while also addressing the deeper emotional impacts of trauma.

My work is grounded in a client-centered, collaborative approach that emphasizes safety, trust, and empowerment. I will meet you where you are and move at a pace that feels manageable, while supporting you in building resilience, strengthening emotional regulation, and reconnecting with your sense of self. Whether you are processing painful past experiences or navigating present-day overwhelm, you do not have to do it alone. I am here to support you every step of the way.

I am a Graduate from Pepperdine University in Clinical Counseling, I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology and currently in a DSW program at USC.
