A gentle reminder this holiday season: If you grew up in a home impacted by a parent’s alcohol use, you may have learned to put others’ needs before your own — becoming the peacemaker, the fixer, the one who “holds it all together.”

But you don’t have to do it all. Not this year. Not anymore. Setting boundaries, saying no, and protecting your time and energy isn’t selfish — it’s healing. Boundaries are a sign of growth, not distance. A reflection of how far you’ve come.

Use this Circle of Control as a gentle guide. Focus on what’s within your control. Let go of what isn’t. You deserve peace, too.

The circle of control is one of my absolute favorite tools to use when helping kids manage worry & anxiety!

For this activity, kids look at different situations and decide whether or not it's something they can control. Learning to identify (and focus on!) what's in your control is such a powerful strategy.

This activity is part of my worry & anxiety interactive notebook pages. The resources includes 8 interactive notebook pages that will help kids better understand cope with their worry and anxiety.
