Then in 1958 he started working at the Ira Kaufmann Chapel of Southfield, where he stayed until 1962. Temrowski established sole proprietorship of the D.S. Temrowski Funeral Home (formerly the Joseph P. Miller Funeral Home) at 13403 Van D**e in Detroit. In 1968 his younger brother was brought in as a partner until 1969, when Donald relocated his family to Warren and opened the D. Temrowski Funeral Home in 1972, at its current address of 30009 Hoover Road. After Donald’s three sons joined the family business the firm was renamed D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home. Donald Temrowski had been actively involved in all phases of funeral service and civic groups and organizations. Temrowski has held offices on the Michigan Funeral Directors Association district level, serving as President, and also he served on the state board of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association and was active on the National committee. Donald Temrowski was a member of the Macomb Chamber of Commerce, and participated as a member in the Warren Kiwanis Club, Polish Century Club of Detroit, and the American-Polish Century Club. D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home has been a member of the Selected Independent Funeral Homes since 1976. Selected Independent Funeral Homes "SIFH", is a prestigious organization and is by invitation only. There is only one invitation per city and to qualify the funeral home must have a thorough investigation, and meet the requirements and ethics, as a family owned funeral home serving the local community.
