60% of all falls occur in the home

There are two types of falls
1. Same level falls - slips or trips
2. Elevated falls - steps, step stools and step ladders (more severe)

How to prevent falls:
1. Physical Therapy - Improve your balance and strength
2. Clean up clutter - Remove objects that are in the way
3. Remove tripping hazards - loose carpet and throw rugs
4. Install grab bars - showers, bathrooms and entrance ways
5. Light it right - bright light bulbs in hallways and stairways
6. Night lights - hallways, bathrooms and stairways
7. Make it non slip - bathrooms, showers and bathtubs
8. Proper shoes - Nothing loose or slip on
