There once was a student who asked his teacher why does my mind wander every time I try to be still?

The teacher handed him a bowl filled to the very brim with water and said walk this across the room , do not spill a single drop.

The student move slowly ,eyes were fixed. Breath was steady.
Every step was deliberate.

When he reached the other side, not a single drop had fallen.

The teacher then asked -while you were walking, Did you think about your worries? Your past? Your future?

The student replied, No….I could only think about the water.

The teacher smiled gently and said
“ that is concentration. “

Not the absence of distraction, but devotion so complete that distraction has nowhere to land.

Today, become the one carrying the full bowl of water – move with care, breathe with purpose, and let your attention be so steady that nothing unnecessary spills in.

The day I was born, the world achieved its first successful heart-lung transplant —
a breakthrough that helped people breathe and live longer.

Maybe that’s a reminder that every life that enters the world carries its own kind of medicine with it.
