Today is Self-Harm (or Self-Injury) Awareness Day. Sometimes hidden in plain sight, self-injury is a way some people cope with overwhelming emotions or numbness.
Look for signs such as long sleeves in heat, unexplained injuries, scars, big mood changes, hopelessness, or keeping sharp objects nearby.
If you notice the signs, listen without judgment, encourage safer coping, and offer support.
Self-harm isn’t meant to be lethal, but it can raise su***de risk if left unaddressed.
