My Beliefs –
Choices in childbirth can be overwhelming. - I will guide you through understanding these choices so that you and your spouse are empowered to make your own decisions for your birth. Pregnancy and birth are transformative events. - I help you mentally and emotionally process the changes happening to your body, mind and spirit as you find your new life as parents. Labor and Birth is physically, emotionally and mentally demanding. - A laboring women gives over everything to give birth. Her spouse may be overwhelmed by the physical, emotional and mental demands of childbirth. In almost all of human history, this was never meant to be a demand placed squarely on the couple’s shoulders. I will support you as a couple and help reduce the stress that this intense experience brings. My doula/childbirth experience –
1999
-Began teaching childbirth education courses in Katy, Texas
2000
-Childbirth educator workshop with ICEA. Hartford, Connecticut
-Attended two births as requirements for the childbirth educator certification in a role as a doula in Houston, Texas
2004
-Attended first birth as a doula for my dear friends, The Elko Family.
2006
-Attended second birth as a doula for The Elko Family.
2014
-Retired from homeschooling my 3 children for 12 years. I am now in the process of seeking my certification from Doulas of North America (DONA). I attended the DONA workshop in September 2014, which qualified me to attend births and am working through the rigorous certification requirements.
