About two years ago, a dedicated group of Warren County Fire and EMS leaders completed training in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing for both groups and individuals. Since then, our team has been called to support multiple incidents across Warren County and the surrounding region. From that work, Lower Adirondack Peer Support was created.

As May is Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re proud to launch our Mental Health Fundraiser to help provide additional training for our team members and expand resources that support First Responders during times of crisis.

🧯National Therapeutic Recreation Week (July 7–11) is a powerful reminder that our Fire, EMS, Volunteer Fire, and Dispatch professionals face intense stress and trauma on the job - they need support too.

🚨 Nearly 90% of EMS providers report burnout, with many also experiencing mental health and substance use challenges.

To support, MHANYS - with funding from SAMHSA - is offering FREE Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training for individuals and organizations in the Capital Region (Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady counties).

Upcoming In-Person MHFA Training for Fire and EMS Professionals:

🎓 MHFA certification is valid for 3 years

Sunday is Health, Wellness, and Resilience Day. Take a walk, cook yourself a health meal! We spent so much of our time as first responders focusing on others, we often to forget to focus in on ourselves. Check in on yourself and check in on others!

About The Code Green Campaign®
The Code Green Campaign® is a first responder oriented mental health advocacy and education organization. Also known as Code Green, we serve all types of first responders. This includes firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, police, corrections, air medical, and search & rescue. Our name is a combination of the color for mental health awareness (green) and the “code alerts” used in emergency services. If someone is having a stroke or heart attack first responders will call a “code stroke” or “code STEMI”. The idea is that Code Green is calling a code alert on the mental health of first responders.
