Throughout my years as a track and field athlete, and now a coach, I have been continuously defining and redefining different frameworks that apply to athletics. This article is a reflection of my first year of coaching, in which I name aspects of my framework that hold the most value to my athletes and I.

The glue of my program is 'relational' - meaning that all interventions (training menu, psychological training, physiological components, etc) must be enacted within a context of trust, accountability, and safety. Without these components, a program might fall short of its true potential, and athletes will fall short of being developed holistically.

Introduction As a coach and athlete, I am constantly uncovering new ways to define my work and process. The term “relational” is a critical part of my massage practice, and a focus of virtually every interaction I have. This article is an exploration of the various ways that relational skills an...

Hi all, I've recently been thinking about some conditions that I frequently treat in my practice. Here is an article that briefly examines sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, and TMJ syndrome. In it I also emphasize the importance of holistic care, which is a cornerstone of my practice:

"When pain emerges from a neuromuscular condition, it is usually not just a nerve + muscle condition. There are numerous other factors that come into play including: emotional state, posture, health history, perception of pain, and belief structure. In my practice, I am continuously growing more attuned to the infinite complexities that govern our bodies. There isn’t just one button we can press to “solve a problem.” We instead must work within a context of what is most helpful in decreasing indicators such as pain, while drawing awareness to the other systems involved in your present experience. Sometimes a diagnosed condition can be more of a hindrance than an undiagnosed one. This is something I will explore in a later article on our belief structures, and the role they have in therapeutic interactions."

I have some open availability throughout late April and early May, so feel free to book a session!

An Outline of Pain Reduction Associated with Some Common Conditions If you’re curious about the positive effects that massage therapy can have, then join the club. When I first experienced massage therapy as a client, I wondered about the positive effects that it might have for certain populations

Hi all,

With this article, I hope to bring forth a resource that can be used to better understand how pain is named on a clinical level. In it I define the basic difference between acute and chronic pain.

I've also added some common questions and descriptors pertaining to pain in a patient/practitioner setting.

A future article will outline how pain works, which is fascinatingly complex.

Pain – the complex, brain generated phenomenon. It is a subjective experience that varies from person to person, and from moment to moment. We have all felt it to some degree, and one thing that unifies almost all experiences of pain is that it does not feel good. Pain comes packaged in many diffe...
