💙 A Tribute to Our Sweet Lucy (From Kimberly & Scott Grandy) — And a Heartfelt Reminder About Pet Insurance
Last Monday morning, our precious girl Lucy crossed over the rainbow bridge.
For more than a year we had been under a veterinarian’s care, doing everything we could as her seizures became more frequent and more aggressive. The longest stretch we had without one was five months… but starting Labor Day weekend, we couldn’t even get to five days. We tried every medication and every combination the doctors believed could help — but once those seizures took hold, nothing could get her truly stable again.
If you’ve ever walked a sick pet through something like this, you know the heartbreak. You know the sleepless nights. You know the way you hold on to hope even when your heart is breaking. Lucy was family — and letting her go was one of the hardest things we’ve ever done.
And I want to share one part of her story that means everything to us:
Jack was with her every step of the way.
He’s the one who picked Lucy at the shelter.
He taught her how to be a beagle dog.
He was her best friend, her protector, and her constant companion.
And when it was time for her to leave us… he was right beside her.
Pets mourn too. And Jack’s heart is hurting just like ours.
I’m sharing Lucy’s story today not only to honor her beautiful little life, but also to gently encourage every pet owner out there:
