We hosted a "Good Grief Social" to prep for Thanksgiving! 🍂
We watched Charlie Brown, munched on our popcorn and pretzels, and shared a powerful reminder that the best part of the holiday is gratitude and good company, not the size of the meal. ❤️

🔆 Resident Spotlight! 🔆

We have Mr. Art!!

* Art was born on a farm in Flora, IL. Art moved around a lot throughout his life with different companies for work.
* Art ended up in Lee's Summit, Missouri with his wife.
* Art was married to the love of his life for 30 plus years together they had two children, one boy and one girl.
* Art has tons of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
+ Art started as a Watchmaker, he learned from his family. He later became a Manufacturing Engineer.
* Art loved working on Small Engine Trains, being outdoors and doing yard work at his home.
* Art's favorite thing about Oak Pointe is that it is close to family and is welcoming to all.
* Art loves any food, enjoys celebrating Christmas, and the colors black and blue.

Art is always so sweet and a joy to be around. We love having him in the Oak Pointe family!❤️

Our last veteran we would like to recognize is Gilbert!! ❤️❤️

🇺🇸 Gilbert was a Merchant Marine
🇺🇸 Gilbert served in War World 2
🇺🇸 He was 20 years old when he took a train to St Louis to enroll.
🇺🇸 He worked on an Oil Tanker and was mostly on the water.
🇺🇸 He started in Gulf Persian and took Oil to Brazil. Then Central and South America and even to Alaska!

🇺🇸 Gilbert’s Biggest Takeaway is~
Never take loved ones for granted- they are who you always have to come home too.

Our next Veteran we would like to recognize is Garland! ❤️🇺🇸

🇺🇸Garland was in the Air Force!
🇺🇸He served between wars.
🇺🇸He joined at 17 years old.
🇺🇸He was stationed in Barksdale Louisiana.
🇺🇸Garland worked on the Aircraft Bombers B47 and B52.
🇺🇸He was in the service for 4 years and 28 days.

🇺🇸 Garland’s Biggest takeaway~
Discipline is important to achieve success in every day life.

First we have Veteran is Ed ❤️🇺🇸

🇺🇸Ed was in the Marine Corps for four years.
🇺🇸Ed joined at 18 years old.
🇺🇸Ed was first stationed in North Carolina as a Private.
🇺🇸Ed then went to Vietnam as a Corporal.
🇺🇸Ed transferred to Virginia and was Guard Duty.
🇺🇸Ed was honored Sergeant and a Purple Heart

🇺🇸Ed’s biggest takeaway is to be thankful for each and every day. We are blessed to still be here. ❤️🇺🇸

Today we would like to recognize Veteran- Greg!❤️❤️

🇺🇸 Greg volunteered to join the US Army!
🇺🇸Greg served for a total of 4 years in 1965-1969!
🇺🇸 Greg was Stationed in Germany!
🇺🇸Greg drove and maintained trucks and trailers that transported Nike Hercules Ballistic Missiles!
🇺🇸Greg was discharged honorably as a specialist 4th class!

🇺🇸 Gregs’s Biggest takeaway is-
Make sure you have laughter in your soul always❤️🇺🇸
