The AAWR was founded in 1981 to provide a forum for issues unique to women in radiology, radiation oncology and related professions. The Association sponsors programs that promote opportunities for women, facilitate networking among members and other professionals, and provides mentorship opportunities for the next generation of women radiologists.

Dr. Kirti Magudia, representing the American Association for Women in Radiology (AAWR) at the Hill Day, illustrates the importance of investment in imaging research: “Radiology and imaging research have been transformative for medicine. In fact, radiology tests are so fundamental that almost everyone has had an X-ray, ultrasound, CT, or MRI. We must consistently invest in radiology and imaging research to enable critical discoveries needed to continue advancing and improving patient care.”
