Our meet the staff member for the week is Cathy Bergholtz, PTA, Physical Therapist Assistant in Warsaw.

Cathy grew up in Perry, NY. She enlisted in the Army in 1994 and served on active duty until 2000, followed by two years in the Army National Guard. Afterward, she worked at Manor Oak Nursing Home until it closed and then pursued her PTA degree at Genesee Community College, graduating in 2006. Cathy worked at Step By Step while in school and joined full-time after graduation.

In her free time, she enjoys walking her dogs and spending time with her daughter and family.

Q&A with Cathy:
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Answer: Telepathy

What is your dream vacation?
Answer: Hawaii

What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Answer: Peanut butter & chocolate

Next up is Dr. Gianna (Cavalier) Senay, PT, DPT
Physical Therapist in Akron

Gianna, or “Gi,” is originally from Long Island, NY. She earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Utica College in 2020 and soon after moved to the Buffalo area. She is a Primary Spine Care Practitioner in New York State, with clinical interests in orthopedic conditions, geriatric care, post-operative recovery, and fall prevention. She has extensive experience working with patients with Parkinson’s Disease.

Outside of work, Gianna enjoys reading, hiking, field hockey, cooking, puzzles, and spending time outdoors. She is dedicated to helping patients achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.

Q&A with Gianna:
What’s the silliest thing that you’re really good at?
Answer: Saying the ABCs backwards

If you were a superhero, what would your name be?
Answer: “Gentle Gianna”

If you were an animal, what would you be? Why?
Answer: A dog — always happy and having fun!

The next staff member is Akron's physical therapist, Paul Gurgol, MSPT, COMT.

Paul graduated from D’Youville University with his B.S. and Master’s in Physical Therapy. He continued his training in orthopedics and earned his Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT) through the International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine.

He is also certified in Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and as a pitching mechanics instructor. These certifications allow him to design PT programs that not only treat injuries but also help athletes—particularly pitchers—improve performance and reduce injury risk.

Paul works directly with Stingers Baseball on injury prevention and treatment and is a pitching coach for Lancaster-Depew Little League. He also supports the NCCC baseball program with pitcher conditioning programs.

In addition to his love of physical therapy, Paul is the author and illustrator of Zero the Hero!, a children’s book series that blends inspirational storytelling with exercise and baseball instruction.

Warsaw Step By Step is accepting donations to Stuff the Tiger. Stop on in during our business hours : Mondays and Wednesdays 7:30am- 6 and Tues and Thursdays 7:30-4.
