Our second to last staff member is our Office Assistant in Attica, Hailee.

Hailee is a graduate of Alexander High School and Roberts Wesleyan University, where she earned a B.S. in Exercise Science with a minor in Coaching. While at Roberts, she competed in Division II track and field.

In her free time, she enjoys coaching children, spending time with family and friends, running, being outdoors, and doing crafts.

This weeks staff member is Angel Bowman, PTA.
Physical Therapist Assistant in Attica

Angel was born and raised in Batavia, NY and now lives in Attica with her son. She has 13 years of experience in healthcare, working alongside doctors, patients, and families. She returned to school in 2017 to earn her Associate’s Degree from Genesee Community College. She began working with Step By Step before graduation and values the company’s personal, small-team approach.

Angel enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially cheering at her son’s sporting events. She loves country music, trying new restaurants, outdoor adventures, and of course—rooting for the Buffalo Bills!

Our meet the staff member for the week is Cathy Bergholtz, PTA, Physical Therapist Assistant in Warsaw.

Cathy grew up in Perry, NY. She enlisted in the Army in 1994 and served on active duty until 2000, followed by two years in the Army National Guard. Afterward, she worked at Manor Oak Nursing Home until it closed and then pursued her PTA degree at Genesee Community College, graduating in 2006. Cathy worked at Step By Step while in school and joined full-time after graduation.

In her free time, she enjoys walking her dogs and spending time with her daughter and family.

Next up is Dr. Gianna (Cavalier) Senay, PT, DPT
Physical Therapist in Akron

Gianna, or “Gi,” is originally from Long Island, NY. She earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Utica College in 2020 and soon after moved to the Buffalo area. She is a Primary Spine Care Practitioner in New York State, with clinical interests in orthopedic conditions, geriatric care, post-operative recovery, and fall prevention. She has extensive experience working with patients with Parkinson’s Disease.

Outside of work, Gianna enjoys reading, hiking, field hockey, cooking, puzzles, and spending time outdoors. She is dedicated to helping patients achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.

The next staff member is Akron's physical therapist, Paul Gurgol, MSPT, COMT.

Paul graduated from D’Youville University with his B.S. and Master’s in Physical Therapy. He continued his training in orthopedics and earned his Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT) through the International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine.

He is also certified in Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and as a pitching mechanics instructor. These certifications allow him to design PT programs that not only treat injuries but also help athletes—particularly pitchers—improve performance and reduce injury risk.

Paul works directly with Stingers Baseball on injury prevention and treatment and is a pitching coach for Lancaster-Depew Little League. He also supports the NCCC baseball program with pitcher conditioning programs.

In addition to his love of physical therapy, Paul is the author and illustrator of Zero the Hero!, a children’s book series that blends inspirational storytelling with exercise and baseball instruction.
