We are excited to announce that we are now carrying 100 % recycled glasses frames and plant-based frames!!
Each year, approximately 8 million tons of plastic enter our oceans. 38 billion water bottles end up in U.S. landfills each year. It is estimated that by 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the world’s oceans.
The Dragon Upcycled frame collection has created a product that is produced from plastic found in oceans and landfills. Each upcycled frame is made from 5 water bottles that are diverted from the ocean or landfills. The plastic that is found is separated, washed, and cut into chips. These chips are then pressed into pellets, melted down, and turned into a frame. How cool!!
We are also carrying Dragon’s plant-based resin frames. These frames are created from castor plants. Once castor beans are harvested, they are pressed for their oil creating a highly resilient and renewable resource. The oil undergoes a process called polymerization where it is transformed into plant-based plastic pellets. The pellets are melted down and injected into molds.
Dragon is supporting the clean water initiative while creating stylish frames. We are excited to be able to carry these 100 % recycled frames and plant-based frames!
The sunglasses are polarized and floatable, meaning that they are perfect for boating. I’m sure we all have lost a few pairs of glasses in the lakes. With these frames, you no longer have to worry about dropping your glasses in the lake!
