As a caregiver, you know how important it is for your loved one with Down syndrome to receive informed, compassionate healthcare. But did you know that only 5% of adults with Down syndrome in the U.S. have access to a specialty clinic? Most rely on primary care professionals, many of whom lack training in their unique medical needs.

🩺 NDSS created CARE Down Syndrome, an eLearning Course with accompanying peer-reviewed articles developed by leading experts, so you can share trusted, evidence-based tools with your loved one’s healthcare team. Learn more at www.careds.org

Important announcement from United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA):

We are pleased to announce that the commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities will be held virtually on Wednesday 3 December 2025.

This year’s theme, “Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress,” seeks to build on the momentum generated by the Second World Summit for Social Development, convened in Doha, Qatar in November 2025, by highlighting critical areas for enhancing disability inclusion to advance progress in the three core themes of social development.

The commemorative event will consist of an Opening segment at 10:00am - 10:30am (EST), followed by an online panel discussion at 10:30am - 11:30am (EST).

The Opening segment will discuss how the framework of the Doha Political Declaration, replete with practical tools and solutions, may be harnessed to achieve social development for, with and by persons with disabilities.

The subsequent online panel discussion will zero in on key enabling factors that are critical to achieving disability inclusion and to advancing progress in social development. Panellists include representatives from governments, the UN system, the private sector and civil society, who will share their insights, knowledge and expertise in a rich and engaging discussion.
