🍂 Fall Sensory Fun for Families! 🍁

Autumn is the perfect time to explore sensory-friendly activities that engage your child’s senses while supporting regulation and connection. Here are a few simple and enjoyable ideas for families with children on the autism spectrum:

✨ Nature Walk Sensory Hunt – Collect leaves, pinecones, and acorns. Talk about textures, colors, and sounds as you walk.

🎨 Pumpkin Painting – Skip the carving! Use brushes, sponges, or fingers to paint pumpkins—great for tactile input without the mess of carving.

🧺 Sensory Bin Play – Fill a bin with dry corn, rice, or leaves. Add small toys or scoops for a calming, hands-on experience.

☕ Warm & Cozy Cocoa Time – Engage smell and taste senses while practicing social turn-taking and conversation.

🕯️ Calm-Down Corner with Fall Scents – Create a cozy spot with blankets, soft lighting, and gentle scents like cinnamon or apple.

🎥 Team Meeting Highlight 🎥

During Friday’s team meeting, our staff who attended training with Dirigo this week shared one of the activities they learned: Zip, Zap, Zop! 🙌

This fun game not only brought energy and laughter to the group, but also reminded us of an important message — the power of forgiveness and acceptance of mistakes as we grow and learn together. 💡✨
