There are laws in your body the same way there are laws in physics.

You can ignore gravity. You can also jump off a cliff convinced it won’t apply to you.

Same with metabolism.

When someone tells you to eat 1200 calories, cut carbs forever, or make sure you have 30g of protein within an hour of waking — the question isn’t does it sound logical.

The question is: does it work WITH your biology or against it?

After 40, the stakes get higher.

WHEN THE STRUGGLE IS REAL 🏋️‍♀️

I had a strength training session last week where I wanted to quit @ LEAST four times.

I bargained with myself, I stalled, I jumped around on social media — and then I would come back.

What kept me going wasn’t willpower.

It was keeping the benefits in front of the decision I was making.

STRONGER. More able. More comfort. Less pain/injury. A shape I love. A better running machine for my hormones, metabolism, & LIFE.

Yes please!

When I focus on where I’m headed instead of how hard the moment feels, the resistance gets a little quieter.

But here’s the thing — sometimes the struggle goes deeper than a motivation problem.

If you’re over 40 and doing everything “right” and still not seeing results, that’s not a willpower gap.

That’s a knowledge gap.

Raise your hand if weight loss felt easier in your 30s than it does now. 🙋‍♀️

There’s a reason for that — and it’s not your willpower.

Truthfully after THIRTY 😱 certain hormones shift & start to decline.

But why our 40’s can feel like falling off a bit of a cliff is b/c:

A) a decline has actually been happening for some time

B ) that decline actually speeds up 🤦🏼‍♀️

C) estrogen’s sudden absence can impact weight in big ways

One thing I’ve seen is that our bodies don’t stop working, it’s just that the metabolic landscape has changed.

And w that - not only do we need to do things differently, but we actually need to help our bodies WORK differently.

I’m giving a talk this Tuesday to pull back the curtain on what’s actually going on — and what genuinely moves the needle.

This was a relevant focus on our group call for Fat Burners last week and I thought to expound on it.



In case you weren’t aware EVERYONE F’s Up.



I know I certainly do.



Sometimes I F Up when I’m trying to do the, “best”, version of something for myself.



Or sometimes I F Up deliberately - meaning I KNOW something would actually serve me better, but I choose to do something else simply because I wanted to in that moment (after having a Crossroad Negotiation of course).



HOWEVER one thing I wished to make clear on our call, was that when things are slightly less than ideal - but we’re doing our best, and the end result was practically what we intended...



That is NOT F’ing Up.



I dearly want to help women walk away from the more frequent assumption that THEY are F’ing UP more often than not when something isn’t 100% perfect.



No.



I desire to help Fat Burners feel like they are RIGHT.



That what they’re doing is GOOD.



That the slight modification they made to the original plan was BRILLIANT.



We MUST be on our own side if we want to stay in support of ourselves and especially when we’re aimed at consistently doing behaviors that are beneficial for ourselves.



And then lastly F’ing Up is part of SUCCEEDING!

72 pounds in 9 months. 4 dress sizes down &…

EASE. 😳

Not white-knuckling it. Not obsessing over every bite. Not canceling birthday dinners.

Just…living. In a body that now works for her.

G is a busy professional sports mom of 3 that had been working HARD in the effort to create change before Fat Burning.

Here’s what she told me recently:

“You’d think I’d be used to the ease of this by now, but it still blows my mind that I can have this flexibility and STILL stay exactly where I want to be.”

ALCOHOL ALTERNATIVE??

I wanted to share a story about my evening last night.

I had such a great time at The Blue Room RI!

Loved getting to finally experience this swanky lounge that had an incredible atmosphere, wonderful staff, and great live music.

I wanted to share about the dilemma that I have with being in a fun establishment like this and wanting to spend some money, but not wanting to drink alcohol.

I share that I do drink @ times, but not w any frequency as the cost is simply not worth it to me (will speak on that on our TALKS ON TUESDAYS this week).

(Admittedly their drink special of the night - guava lychee martini was PERSUASIVE 😍.)

I’m so curious about ADAPTOGENS and how they might be an easy alcohol alternative, especially at bars.

Would love to hear anyone’s thoughts about this as I really have had no experience with them, but would love to have an option that far out weighs a crappy sugary mocktail and that actually is a benefit to my body.

WINS OF THE WEEK: 4/17

Can we just take a moment?! 🎉

These women are doing something that looks nothing like what most people think weight loss requires — no gym slavery, no restriction, no needing to, “be perfect.”

Just rocking a body that has finally been set up to run on its own fat.

And the results?

20 pounds down. Nine weeks in for J. Amidst STRESS, less sleep & a major life change. 🙌

9.6 pounds down @ 6 weeks for C — and a size 12 dress ordered in February is already too big by April. 💃🏻

7.5 pounds in 4 weeks. C has lost over 1.8 lbs/week — with not a lot to lose. That’s genuinely exceptional, especially while enjoying donut cake+ on her carb feasts! 😋

39.1 pounds down — and she’s in her 10th month. B casually shared that like it was nothing! Oh, and she just bought new BIKINIS for a vacation! Something she hasn’t worn since her 20s. 2 decades of
“not for me” clothing now gone. 👙

72 pounds down — and G’s in her 9th month, maintaining pretty effortlessly at 157. She texted me genuinely amazed. Because she can rearrange carb feasts around birthdays, stay flexible in real life — and STILL stay exactly where she wants to be. Not because she’s trying hard. Because her body simply works differently now. 💪🏽

44.7 pounds down — GOAL WEIGHT ACHIEVED in just under 6 months. And still going. M’s coworkers say she’s disappearing. That she looks like one of the kids they work w. Her hairdresser today didn’t believe she was almost 47. No gym obsession. Carb feasts — or carb feasts 2 nights in a row 🤪 — built right into the plan. BIKINI BODY ACHIEVED…AT 48! 🔥

“Hi! Just wanted to let you know…. I’m going away next week and actually bought bikinis for my trip!!! I haven’t worn a bikini since I was in my 20’s!!! Thank you so muchhhh!!!!”

I was so touched and thrilled to get this message last week from a lovely lady who’s been a Fat Burner for just under two years.

B, a 48-year-old professional, sports mom of 2 — is STILL losing weight!

I love when Fat Burners check in with periodic updates, and I absolutely adore hearing news like this.

For so many of us, at a certain weight or shape, there are simply garments that feel off-limits.

Sleeveless shirts.

JEANS.

GUILTY-FREE INDULGENCE

“I WORE MY HARD PANTS THE OTHER DAY! 🤣. Carb feast yesterday (of course) & ate all the things & didn’t feel bad about it. ♥️♥️♥️”

Wanted to share a number of reflections I received from fat Burners after Easter.

Holidays are generally carb feasts for Fat Burners because the focus tends to revolve around indulgent & sexy FOOD.

I love getting these texts that are so celebratory & joyful with a feeling of emotional lightness about eating whatever the heck they wanted and getting undeniably full!

Not wrestling with themselves over what they should eat vs what they really wanted to eat, no regret, no starting over again on Monday… No thank you.

Because their bodies are fat-adapted & metabolically flexible - a carb feast works with them instead of against them. Sharp insulin sensitivity means those carbs get used, not stored.

When you have this wiring & know how to leverage it & the food that you are eating deliberately, you literally get to have your cake & eat it too.
