Being pain-free doesn’t mean you’re ready to run.

Running places repeated load through one leg at a time — and the body needs to be prepared for that demand.

That’s why we don’t clear people based on timelines alone.

Strength, control, load tolerance, and fatigue resistance all matter.

Having standards — and meeting them — is what reduces setbacks and builds confidence long-term.

Save this if you’re working your way back to running.

Feeling better and being prepared are not the same thing.

Traditional rehab often focuses on symptom relief.

Performance-based rehab prepares you for the real demands of your sport, training, or daily life.

The difference shows up when it’s time to return — without hesitation.

Pain is not a direct measure of damage.

It’s a signal — influenced by past injury, stress, fear, workload, and perception.

That’s why imaging doesn’t always match symptoms.

The goal isn’t to avoid movement.
It’s to rebuild tolerance and confidence gradually.

You’re not fragile. You may just need the right progression.

Imaging can provide useful information — but it doesn’t tell the whole story.

Many “abnormal” findings are common in people without pain.

What matters more is how you move, how much load you can tolerate, and how confident you feel doing it.

Treat the person — not just the picture.

02/04/2026

Being pain-free is part of recovery — not the finish line.

Readiness is built through strength, control, endurance, and confidence under load.

That’s how setbacks are reduced.

Faster isn’t always better in rehab.

When progress is rushed, tissues don’t fully adapt, confidence drops, and setbacks become more likely.

That’s why we don’t rely on timelines alone.

Rehab should be guided by progress, testing, and repeatable standards — not pressure to move faster than the body is ready for.

Long-term success will always matter more than short-term relief.

01/28/2026

Rehab is about progress — not arbitrary timelines.

Two people can have the same injury and very different starting points.

Strength, movement quality, confidence, and workload tolerance all influence how long recovery actually takes.

When progress is measured and adjusted over time, long-term results follow.

If you feel like your goals aren’t being met, you may have been pushed forward too quickly.

8 weeks post-op L ACL repair for and she’s making great progress.

We’re approaching the halfway point before running begins, which means the focus stays on mastering the fundamentals—movement quality, control, and confidence—so each next phase is built on something solid.

If you’re an athlete (or parent of one) navigating an injury and want a plan that prioritizes long-term success—not shortcuts—we’re happy to help guide the process.

Ankle sprain? Let’s rebuild it the right way.

This was an early-stage progression focused on restoring motion, stability, and control—not just “doing exercises.”

We started with learning how to push straight down into the ground, progressed to controlling the shin over the foot under load, and then introduced deceleration without losing foot position.

Next steps: controlled toe-off, landing mechanics, and eventually jumping and change of direction.

Rehab should prepare athletes to return stronger—not just pain-free.

Q/A Friday: Why do knees feel stiff or painful when climbing stairs or squatting?

Short answer: it’s rarely just the knee.

Most of the time we see:
• Poor foot grounding
• Limited hip mobility
• Avoidance of knee-over-toe motion
• Movement patterns built over time

When the foot and hips don’t share the load, the knee takes on more stress than it should.

The solution isn’t rest or avoiding movement —
it’s restoring control, confidence, and proper mechanics.

If you want the warm-up I give my clients to improve knee control, DM KNEE and I’ll send it to you.
