Hi everyone, thank you for visiting this page! I am helping my wonderful dad find a living kidney donor.
About five years ago, at the age of 60, his life changed drastically. He was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease, a genetic disorder that causes cysts on the kidneys. We were all devastated when he received this diagnosis, as he has lived a life free of smoking, drinking alcohol, and centered around work and family. We have since learned it runs in our family, and contributed to his mother's death last year. Since that time, my dad's kidney disease has gotten worse, causing his kidneys not to work well enough to keep him alive. His treatment options are limited to dialysis treatments or a kidney transplant.
He recently started dialysis to improve his kidney functioning, but a kidney transplant is his ultimate goal. Dialysis extends life for 5-10 years, and a transplant would allow him to live a much longer, healthier, normal life.
In 2020, he became a proud grandfather and his dear grandson Kyano became the center of his life. Kyano’s father is deployed overseas and he is one of Kyano's main caregivers at this time. My dad wants to continue being a strong, dependable grandfather to him and be there to celebrate the important milestones throughout his life. In addition, he hopes to travel again, support his daughter (me) with her family and professional dance endeavors, and spend quality time with his extended family around the country.
Please share this page with anyone you think may be interested in being a living donor and THANK YOU!!!!!!
