National Eating Disorder Awareness Week 💙💚

Every BODY belongs.

Eating disorders don’t have a “look.” They affect people of all ages, genders, races, and backgrounds. This week is about education, compassion, and breaking the stigma around mental health and body image.

You are worthy of support. You are worthy of healing.

"Parenthood is often portrayed as a joyful and fulfilling experience, and while that is true, there’s an often-overlooked obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) that affects how some individuals deal with parenting. This condition is called perinatal OCD and is more common than most people realize, yet it is often misunderstood and rarely discussed. This blog will shine a light on perinatal OCD, and if you’re experiencing symptoms, know that support is available and you’re not alone."

When things feel heavy, it’s okay to pause. 💙

Black History Month is a time to reflect, learn, and celebrate the impact of Black leaders and changemakers. đź’›

Their stories are not just part of the past. They continue to shape our present and future.

Let’s honor the legacy, support Black voices, and commit to learning beyond February.

"Do you notice yourself snapping at loved ones or colleagues more easily, and your irritability is at an all-time high. Having these feelings is very common because stress has become an almost constant companion for many people in their lives. Stress builds up in our bodies and minds until it becomes impossible to ignore, and starts to severely impact well-being. What a lot of people don’t realize is that dealing with what’s stressing you out isn’t the same as helping your body let it go. This is where “completing the stress cycle” comes in, and it may completely change how you manage daily stress."

This month, we honor the leaders, creators, innovators, and voices who shaped history and continue to shape the future.

Black history is American history. Every story matters. Every voice counts.

"Have you ever met someone who seems to resist even the simplest requests, not out of defiance, but because of experiencing genuine distress and anxiety? This is a behavioral profile called Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), seen in autistic individuals and ADHD’ers, marked by intense, anxiety-driven avoidance of everyday demands that often results in resistance, negotiation, or distraction as a way to preserve a sense of control and autonomy. This term has also been conceptualized as Pervasive Drive for Autonomy (PDA) by the neurodiversity-affirming community to more accurately describe individuals’ needs for safety and autonomy."

Due to today’s snow and out of an abundance of care for everyone’s safety and comfort— both our clients and our clinicians— we are moving sessions to a virtual format today where possible.

Your clinician has likely already been in touch with you directly regarding your scheduled session. If you have any questions, please feel free to email your therapist. Sarah Smathers, our Director of Client Services, is also available and happy to help with any logistical questions.

We appreciate your flexibility on snow days like this and will be in touch with further updates.

Stay warm and safe!

What’s actually in your control... and what isn’t.
Peace comes when you stop fighting the outer circle and start leading the inner one.

Your effort.
Your boundaries.
Your response.
Your energy.

Everything else gets less power the moment you stop feeding it. Share it with someone who needs the reminder today. 🤍
