On behalf of the Federal AIDS Policy Partnership—a diverse coalition of more than 120 organizations representing advocates, civil society and faith-based organizations, philanthropy, implementers, professional membership organizations, and NGOs— was honored to recognize Rep. Pocan for his long-standing leadership in the domestic / response with the fourth annual Award for Excellence in HIV/AIDS.

Timed around , tye coalition was delighted to pay tribute to Rep. Pocan at a reception on December 2, 2025 in Washington, D.C., alongside colleagues in the Global AIDS Policy Partnership that honored Senator Susan Collins for her efforts related to the global HIV response at the event.

World Day serves as an opportunity to recognize and honor the more than 44.1 million people who have died worldwide from AIDS-related illness, to show support for people living with and impacted by , and to celebrate the major advancements in treatment and care for people living with HIV/AIDS.

This year’s theme, “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response,” reminds our community that although we face new challenges & changing landscapes in our work to , the path forward remains one of hope, innovation, and equity.

🌎 With over 85 million adults in the US using Medicaid, 4 in 10 adults with HIV rely on Medicaid for coverage! Medicaid covers 45% of federal HIV care spending, highlighting the importance of delivering accessible, affordable, and continuous health coverage to the HIV community.

❗Protecting Medicaid will help us end the HIV Epidemic!

📝 In this resource, NASTAD explores several challenges that the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program ( ) Part B ADAP face:
∙ Changes to Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance enrollment and coverage, which may increase the number of people with HIV who become or remain uninsured.
∙ Rising costs of antiretrovirals and other drugs.
∙ The growing complexity of the 340B program, which offers revenue generation opportunities for ADAP but also comes with important compliance requirements and complex partnership dynamics.

that there is a 30% higher food insecurity rate for people living with HIV than the general population? Nearly 79% of this community in U.S. cities rely on SNAP!

Food security leads to better nutritional outcomes that help maintain health, support treatment effectiveness, and leads to positive health outcomes for the HIV community.
