Historic Day meeting with the APTA (American Physical Therapist Association) Vice President Matt Hyland, Executive VP Katy Neas and Jan Dommerholt from myopain seminars!
Thanks everyone for your contributions on this post. It has been many years since our professions met and established a path to dialogue on standards, definitions, and scope of practice. While many organizations from both fields weren't at this meeting, the purpose of the meeting was to find a path to making a larger meeting between our fields happen.
It is understood that many acupuncturists and physical therapists have concerns about the topic, a clear reason why this meeting was needed. Our hope is that more people from the community will get involved in the dialogue through their professional associations. That said, the meeting took almost a year to setup and the AAAOM has continuously been in touch with representatives from the ASA, NCCAOM, NGAOM, and other organizations in our field along the way.
AAAOM is, and has long been, an all volunteer organization. All of our board members and advisors have busy full time practices. The AAAOM continues to stay committed to facilitate access to the highest quality of healthcare in the United States. Please reach out to us to become more involved in this and other critical issues facing the profession.
