UNION RALLY SCHEDULED - “STAND WITH COUNTY WORKERS AFSCME Local 1335” - The union representing Pueblo County employees is hosting a rally on Monday, February 16 (Presidents Day) at 2 pm at the Pueblo County Courthouse

February 16th is the first day that County Commissioners have mandated that Pueblo County employees are being forced to take an unpaid leave “because of the County’s budget mess — a mess they did NOT create,” announced the union on Facebook, shortly after the three elected commissioners met to sign a resolution mandating unpaid holidays in 2026.

“County workers cannot afford a day without pay,” blasted the union. “These are our neighbors, friends, and family members who keep Pueblo County running every single day.”

They said, “Cutting workers’ pay and benefits FIRST is atrocious.”

“Punishing frontline employees instead of addressing backroom sweetheart deals with millionaires is unacceptable.”

“The County should be going after the real sources of financial mismanagement, not balancing the books on the backs of working people.”

They are asking other unions and members of the community to
“Join AFSCME Local 1335 on the courthouse steps and make it clear, that Workers didn’t cause this crisis — and they shouldn’t pay for it.”

“And to “Protect workers. Hold leadership accountable.”

Today, 2/12/26, the County Commissioners adopted an amendment Resolution NO. 25-283. We stand in opposition to this change and know the impact that unpaid days have on all county employees.

Throughout this budget discussion, we have taken your voice to the commissioners and let them know the everyday, real-life impact it has on us. We will continue to advocate for our union siblings and ask for accountability, transparency, and insist that the impact from this budget crisis not be shouldered by the workers serving our community.

We encourage all of you to continue to voice your opinion and exercise your right not only as employees of Pueblo County but as citizens of the same. Please continue to reach out to your Union representatives, and together we will SHOW UP, STAND UP, and FIGHT BACK.

We will continue to provide updates on our website:
