It is that time of the year where you get to choose a new healthcare plan.Every year we have patients who are surprised about what they have to pay so we want to help remind you how it works!
Towards the end of your plan year, it is important to understand the actual benefit you may have.
If you have reached your OUT OF POCKET MAXIMUM—this means your insurance company pays 100% of your visit!! This allows you to schedule with your provider at no cost with the caveat that you still have visits left to use.

Many insurances have VISIT LIMITS.  This means if you are granted 30 visits for the year and used all 30, you will not have coverage for any visit past 30. Luckily for you we have an option: you can sign up with one of our therapists through APPLIED PERFORMANCE and have a dedicated 1:1 session for 60 minutes.  Contact us for rates or Sign up for Applied Performance Today!

You may have met your DEDUCTIBLE. This means you were paying 100% of your visit but by this time in the year you have paid so much that now you only need to pay a portion of the visit.  That percentage (10%, 15%, 20%) is set by the insurance plan you picked.  Our billing department can answer how your claims have been paid and let you know your portion of the visit you will pay before your plan year resets.

Our talented team is here to care for you and elevate your abilities into the year of 2026!  Lets do this together!

1. Keep moving! Light cross training like walking or easy cycling will help with recovery and prevent stiffness
- Perform a short, slow run 24 hours after a hard workout or race
- short 25-30 mins or less time than your regular runs
- 60-90 seconds slower than your average run
- keep your HR below 65% of your max
2. Replenish your energy stores and stay hydrated!
- Refuel with carbohydrates and plenty of protein
- within the first 24 hours refuel with a 3:1 carb to protein ratio
- find drinks to replenish your electrolytes
- reduce soreness naturally—tart cherry juice, turmeric or ginger, berries and leafy greens, omega-35 (salmon, chia)
3. Make sure you’re getting enough sleep
- get 8 hours of sleep to help your body recover
- focus on quality sleep and nighttime protein for repair
4. Reintroduce running gradually, don’t immediately jump back into training
5. prioritize massage, compression and recovery tools—utilize those FSA/HSA funds during this time of the year!

Your breath is a powerful force within your body so this book is worth a post all on its own!

Did you know that your breathing pattern can affect your blood pressure and heart function, sugar levels, sleep patterns, temperature regulation and face shape and so much more?!

Do you suffer from asthma, frequent sinus infections, headaches, anxiety, jaw pain, low back pain? Who doesn’t these days?! Those episodic dysfunctions and pain cycles can be altered with some simple changes that you can make while at home, work, while sleeping, on your walk, or anywhere.

For those who want to learn more, we highly recommend this book or of course to come and see us. The consequences of mouth breathing vs nasal breathing may require less medical intervention (less time at doctor appointments) and cost if you work on retraining your system.

Enjoy the read and pass it along to a good friend!
