🤝🏽The TWH team welcomed an opportunity to participate in the DC Coalition on Long Term Care's Advocacy Day - spending meaningful time engaging with DC council members and collaborating with coalition partners - including Home Care Partners, LeadingAge DC, DC Appleseed Center for Law & Justice, 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East (home care workers union), Capitol Hill Village, and Northwest Neighbors Village.
The Coalition collaborates with a broad network of partners to develop, support, and sustain local programs that benefit older adults and individuals with disabilities.
With appreciation for their time, the special day was spent meeting with:
•Councilmember Anita Bonds, At-Large, (Chair, Committee on Housing & Neighborhood Revitalization)
•Councilmember Christina Henderson, At-Large (Chair, Committee on Health)
•Councilmember Matthew Frumin, Ward 3 (Human Services)
•Councilmember Brooke Pinto, Ward 2 (Chair, Judiciary & Public Safety)
⚡Time was also spent outlining several key policy priorities including advancing updated CNA/HHA skills testing to ensure timely and effective licensure, as well as protecting critical healthcare funding - including full funding for the Certified Nursing Aide Amendment Act and DC Healthcare Alliance.
TWH is a proud supporter of the Coalition's efforts to strengthen care, advance equity, and build a better future for all DC residents in need of long term care support. 🌼
