AMCHP Our membership also includes academic, advocacy, and community-based family health professionals, as well as families themselves.

The Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs (AMCHP) leads and supports programs nationally to protect and promote the optimal health of women, children, youth, families, and communities. The Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs is a national resource, partner, and advocate for state public health leaders and others working to improve the health of women, children, youth, and families, including those with special health care needs. AMCHP's members come from the highest levels of state government and include directors of maternal and child health programs, directors of programs for children with special health care needs, and other public health leaders who work with and support state maternal and child health programs. Our members directly serve all women and children nationwide, and strive to improve the health of all women, infants, children, and adolescents, including those with special health care needs, by administering critical public health education and screening services, and coordinating preventive, primary, and specialty care. AMCHP builds successful programs by disseminating best practices; advocating on our member's behalf in Washington; providing technical assistance; convening leaders to share experiences and ideas; and advising states about involving partners to reach our common goal of healthy children, healthy families, and healthy communities.

This week, AMCHP led the Maternal & Child Health Appropriations Alliance’s (MCHAA) MCH Funding Week of Action by:

✅Coordinating the development and delivery of MCHAA’s first-ever FY 2026 appropriations sign-on letter to House and Senate Appropriations Committee Leadership.
✅Organizing a targeted Hill Day that included in-person and hybrid meetings with representatives from 13 national organizations visiting over 15 congressional offices, as well as virtual meetings focused on highlighting the voices and stories of family leaders and on-the-ground perspectives.
✅Creating and disseminating a social media toolkit that partners used to amplify unified messages across networks.

MCHAA’s message is clear: robust and sustained federal investments in MCH are vital for the health, safety, and well-being of mothers, children, and families nationwide.

Did you know? Title V MCH programs reached 59 million people in 2023 — including 94% of pregnant women and 98% of infants. Title V remains one of the nation’s most effective and flexible tools for supporting the health and well-being of families.

Title V funding allows states and jurisdictions to:
✔️ Provide screenings, referrals, and essential public health services
✔️ Strengthen community-based supports for families
✔️ Address maternal and infant health needs unique to each state
✔️ Improve systems of care for children and youth

As we wrap up MCHAA's MCH Funding Week of Action, we’re highlighting why strong, sustained investments in the system matter. These programs reach nearly every family in the country — and continued funding ensures this support remains strong.
