You can show you care by telling them how much you care (seems simple but it’s impactful!), showing up, being available to talk or listen, etc all while firmly holding a boundary that says “I also need to show up for myself”. Showing up for yourself can mean, saying “no” when you’ve run out of capacity, taking time away from your phone or other screens, making plans to do things that replenish you physically and emotional, etc. Burning out to keep someone else’s fire lit is not the healthy answer to anyone’s problems.
