And to think… less than 3 years ago, I asked a lover of mine take roses back because they were “basic.”

Turns out, they are one of the most dynamic, strong yet subtly complex plants I’ve ever worked with…

One of the most ultimate plant teachers of all the plant kingdom.
She vibrates at the highest frequency of all the flora in the world.

Your thorns, your boundary, your sacred protection.
Your bud, the pure potential and the part of you that blooms in perfect timing—no effort, no force.
And your beautiful, sweet, floral scented bloom…

How you open so beautifully.
The more you’re tended to, acknowledged, played with, and cared for, the more you open.

Just like me.

Your folds, multidimensional.
Your spiral, the sacred, geometric pattern of Fibonacci.
A technology that I may never comprehend cognitively, but feel, viscerally.

The last time I sat with you, sweet rose, was in the heat of summer. Hot, sweet, dripping in the fruits of her harvest & nectar. In the midst of choosing into the most profound, romantic, cosmic love of my life. 💦🫠

This time, bitter rose… I entered into dieta as I simultaneously left that nectar-fueled romantic partnership.

You teach dignity, integrity, boundary, and safety.

And once again, as I recreate safety in my body, I open.
My heart blooms.
My light shines.

Your ancestors n@ked, howling and singing around the fire.
Making prayers and casting spells.

Some of their magic light, some dark.

They were repressed. Expelled. Prosecuted.
Forced to be different than Creator made them to be.

For generations thereafter, they were forced to forget.
Forget their true nature.
Forget their magic.
Forget their gifts.

The women became dull. Vitality dried up. Sparkle, lost.

Then, you are born.
Another magickal woman in the 21st century, asked to contort.

Expulsion.

At a Friendsgiving dinner recently, we were invited to reflect on a pivotal moment in our lives—the one thing that changed everything.

For me, it began my freshman year of college, assigned to read “A World Without Poverty.” I didn’t know it at the time, but that book, combined with my insatiable curiosity and refusal to live a small life, changed the trajectory of my entire life.

Three years later, I wandered sheepishly around the career fair, hoping not to make eye contact with a single recruiter… until I saw the Peace Corps table.

My body was an immediate F yes.

Two degrees, two minors, and two semesters later, I chose my fate. I was young. I didn’t need much. I packed my bags and moved to Costa Rica… ready to contribute, ready to be changed.

What I didn’t expect was how hard it would be.

The isolation was real, and transition… brutal. I found myself stuck in cycles of comparison and not-enoughness, constantly measuring myself against the volunteer before me.

The stress caught up with me.
My body broke down.
I became sick—eventually diagnosed with celiac disease.

That moment changed everything. I became obsessed with healing—first for myself, then others.

I studied holistic health while finishing my Peace Corps service. I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training as that chapter closed. And without realizing it, I was being initiated into the work I now do in the world.

Costa Rica didn’t just shape me.
It made me.

This March, 15 women are joining me back to Costa Rica… ten years after moving there as a Peace Corps volunteer. 🥹😻

If you would have told me back then, I would have thought you were crazy.

And now, a decade later, I return. Not as a girl trying to prove herself, but as a woman ready to guide others through their own remembering.

Sharing my life’s work on the land that changed the trajectory of my life feels deeply sacred. Full circle. Initiation complete. ⭕️

There is a happy ending to this story… Read until the end 🥲

He tells me to prepare for an evening of sacred ceremony.
A devotional prayer of love through union.
I go to the store and buy a dozen white roses, berries, and chocolate.
We make love that connects us to God.

He tells me he’s going to choose me.
Days later, our relationship is over.
And just like that, he’s gone.
A knife through my heart, I know even more deeply, the visceral experience of impermanence.
I let him go.

I light a candle and pull the petals off the sacred rose from our final love making ceremony together.
The healing waters that I soon bathe in, receive the petals with love.
Every petal, plucked off, one by one, with a prayer of love and healing loss.
I get in the tub and weep.
My tears purify what is no longer mine.
The petals wipe my tears.
And a red string around my wrist with a prayer, to call my energy back, and return to wholeness, alone.

The moment I return to sacred union within, God brings us together again.

Anything is possible in The Fertile Void.

✨ hike & swim naked in waterfalls and in national forests
✨ share the darkest parts of me that, as it turns out… are not as horrible as I thought!
✨ experience the most divine, platonic, intimate relationship of my life & rewrite narratives with men
