BOMA International Codes Staff Steve Dimino (left) and Andrew Klein (right) traveled to Hartford, CT this week to participate in the International Codes Council (ICC)'s Public Comment Hearings. These hearings mark the final step before the 2027 version of the I-Codes are published. BOMA has always been and will continue to be an active participant in the model code and standard development process.

BOMA International was represented by Mary Lue Peck, President & COO, and Luci Smith, Chair & Chief Elected Officer, joining the conversation on issues our members are navigating every day, from TRIA and capital formation to tax certainty, workforce pressures, energy policy, and overall market stability.

What was encouraging was the tone of the discussion. There was real recognition of how private capital supports housing, mixed‑use communities, and local economies, and of the need for policies that keep investment and projects moving forward. 📈

⭐ A highlight was Representative Mike Flood’s update on the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA). A stable terrorism risk insurance backstop remains foundational for CRE, supporting financing, construction, and long‑term investment, especially in the urban markets our members operate every day.
