Golden Life Counseling and Coaching was founded by Shenikka Moore who is a licensed Clinicanal Social Worker and Certified Transformational Life Coach who has spent over 10 years providing clinical/mental health services to clients. After doing her own work and through spiritual growth, she felt the need to not only provide mental health services, but also life coaching for women and couples who are seeking to heal and grow in their journey through life. Shenikka Moore, LICSW is not only a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Washington D.C, Virginia and Connecticut, but also a trained Transformational Life Coach through the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts. She is passionate about helping others and receives great fulfillment in helping her clients to move beyond their present circumstance and create lasting change in their lives.

Did you know that creating and maintaining are an important part of self love We create to take care of ourselves, to prevent being mistreated by others and to set limits for acceptable behavior from people around us.
Todays challenge: ❤List 3 things you’d like people to stop doing around you. ❤List 3 things you want people to stop doing to you. ❤Lists 3 things that people may no longer say to you.

Now make a commitment to set boundaries around your list or any other area in your life that you need to set healthier boundaries.

Coping skills are strategies that we use in the face of a stressor, difficulty or when experiencing some type of trauma. We all have coping skills, but often times the problem is that we utilize coping strategies that may be unhealthy, destructive or may have worked for us at one part of life but are no longer useful.In essence there are maladaptive(unhealthy) and adaptive(healthy). Some maladaptive coping skills can include:
💣Escape or Avoidance
💣Unhealthy self soothing
💣Numbing
💣Compulsive/Risk Taking
💣Self-Harm
💣Over eating
Some Adaptive Coping Skills
❤Seeking support
❤Relaxation
❤Problem Solving
❤Humor
❤Physical Activity

As a tberapist, I find that many clients seek therapist in part due to experiencing some sort of anxiety.
Some anxiety is actually good and can help us when we are facing a threat. Everyone experiences some level of anxiety, however the intesity may vary as well as certain triggers. In treating anxious, the goal isn't always to "get rid of the anxiety", but to find tools and strategies to deal with the anxiety.
Meditaton has been shown to be very helpful in reducing anxiety. Here are some tips to implement mediation daily.
Commit to 5-30 minutes a day. To begin, start with five minutes. 📌Eliminate Distractions. 📌Relax and get comfortable. 📌Choose Your Position.
📌Focus breathing. 📌Breathe slowly and deeply.
📌If you mind wanders, bring it back to your breathing.
📌Ending your meditation.

There are many great meditation apps that can be helpful. Two if my favorites are Insight Timer and Calm.
