Yesterday, communities around the world observed World AIDS Day. It’s always a meaningful moment for reflection, remembrance, and connection. Many of our members spent the day educating, advocating, or honoring the people and stories that continue to shape this work. We carry that spirit with us into today.
Today is Giving Tuesday, a day we celebrate generosity in all its shapes and forms. When you give to ANAC, your generosity supports:
💛 ANAC Conference Scholarships

The federal government’s refusal to acknowledge World AIDS Day in 2025 is more than a symbolic lapse. It represents a withdrawal of public commitment to people living with HIV. World AIDS Day is an opportunity to honor those lost, affirm the dignity of those living with HIV and reaffirm our national and global responsibility to advance equity in prevention and care. Federal silence on World AIDS Day undermines that purpose and reinforces harmful stigma at a time
when visibility remains critical. Regardless of the actions of the federal government, we at ANAC will remain true to the purpose of World AIDS Day.

Each year on Dec. 1, people around the globe take time to remember those lost, educate others and rally to eliminate the devastating stigma and loss associated with the ongoing HIV/AIDS crisis.

On National Rural Health Day, ANAC and ANAC’s Rural Committee want to highlight the disproportionate health outcomes faced by those living in rural areas including those living with HIV. In the last two decades, HIV incidence has increased in rural communities and living in rural areas is associated with lower rates of HIV testing and PrEP usage, delayed HIV diagnosis, slower initiation of antiretroviral therapy and increased HIV-related mortality.

Hear from ANAC member and South Dakota nurse Jessica Buckley about her experiences with rural HIV nursing. https://conta.cc/47STXqo

Today is the 26th annual Transgender Day of Remembrance. Started in 1999, it was originally a vigil to honor Rita Hester, a trans woman who was killed in Massachusetts. This has become a national day to honor those who have lost their lives to anti-trans bigotry and violence. We honor the transgender and gender-diverse individuals whose lives were lost to anti-transgender violence, discrimination and systemic inequities. For ANAC, this day carries a profound significance. Our mission—to advance equitable, evidence-based, compassionate HIV nursing care—cannot be achieved without confronting the realities faced by transgender communities and reaffirming our commitment to justice, dignity and safety for all.
