Active Minds at UCSB

Active Minds at UCSB We are the UCSB chapter of the national organization, Active Minds. We are a student organization at UCSB called Active Minds. Active Minds, Inc.

Our mission is to reduce the stigma attached to mental health disorders and make getting help easier and more accepted. Active Minds is the nation's only student-based mental health advocacy program on college campuses. Dedicated to eradicating the stigma associated with mental illness, Active Minds members work to promote awareness and understanding of the issues on campuses nationwide. We know that mental health issues face thousands of students everyday, and we commit to doing everything we can on campus to bring attention and respect to the cause. was founded in 2001 by twenty year-old Alison Malmon, after the su***de of her only sibling - brother Brian Malmon - who had just taken a leave of absence from college.

We’ve had a fun and productive past couple of weeks! Last week to start the new year and new quarter right we discussed goal setting and manifesting and how to set up helpful goals that we can follow through. Afterwards we made vision boards of what we hope to accomplish this year! This week we talked about empathy and discussed how we can practice compassion with direction. Then we wrote therapeutic emphatic letters to someone we have a complicated relationship with. Thanks for coming everyone! See you next week!
