Our residents were excited to participate in a digital storytelling project with students from the Bard High School Early College DC yesterday!

A big thank you to Liana Conyers, the Associate Dean of Academic Life and Associate Professor of Performing Arts, for asking us to collaborate on this creative endeavor ☺️🎥

Can't wait to see the finished product which will be gifted to our residents!

In 2025, the Van Ness Main Street Pollinator Planting Program, headed by Master Gardener, Master Naturalist, and Van Ness resident Kathy Sykes, celebrates its 7th year of service to the Van Ness, Wakefield, and Forest Hills corridor!

All along Connecticut Avenue, you will see the lovely native plant beds that Kathy and her dedicated volunteers have planted and taken care of over the years. Forest Hills of DC is proud to volunteer in the spring and fall each year to help maintain these beds with Kathy and other community volunteers 🌼🌿 It was a beautiful day for gardening this past weekend! A new high school training program aims to credential certified nurse assistants even before graduation and roll them directly into paid apprenticeships with ready-and-willing nursing home employers.

It was so fun this morning to have the Sidwell Friends School 7th and 8th grade students spend time with our residents in assisted living, skilled rehab, and memory care communities! Thank you, Friends, for your commitment to service, and we will see you again in January!

It was a grand slam finish to National Assisted Living Week for us at the Nat’s game this past Saturday! The theme this year was “ageless adventure“. We certainly agree that baseball gives a sense of adventure and fun to young and older alike! Thank you to Councilmember Frumin for helping us again this year and for cheering on our home team with us! Thank you to our team members and families that worked to make it happen! ⚾️🥳⚾️

Forest Hills of DC by Goodwin Living Hosts 5th Annual Walk and Roll to Celebrate Older Americans Month

FUN, FUN, FUN! We love that May is national where we celebrate our residents. For our 5th annual national award winning celebration with our community, once again Mayor Bowser, and our DC Council both proclaimed May is “Old People Are Cool Month” in all of DC. Thanks to Councilmember Matt Frumin for kicking us off and sharing his personal passion for senior living residents in DC! We walked, rolled on wheels, and shared our joy with residents and team members. Local students at Sidwell Friends School and Gonzaga High School shared life stories and co-created signs to celebrate the day. Lots of smiles, hugs, laughter, and sense of pride made the day super special.
