On Saturday, Oct 12th, we’re offering 5 free spots to experience her class! Reserve yours now at www.flowyogacenter.com/schedule.

Once the 5 spots are filled, regular pricing applies—but don’t worry, we have an amazing intro special you can try for a great discount: www.flowyogacenter.com/new. 💫

We can’t wait to see you on the mat! 🙏💖

from Jess bio/teacher statement:

"All day long, we ride the interwebs, shape-shifting and time-traveling, and wind up with fractured focus that keeps us from deep relationships and restful sleep. We know we are made of clay, and yet, we hardly ever touch it. We know we are held to the earth by gravity, and yet the wonders of physics that govern our existence seem to grow more remote by the moment, as we float daily and all day long in the apparitions of the virtual world, at arm's length from our own limbs. Yoga, or the union of mind and body, by one simple definition, links the always-accessible physical form with the elusive interior landscape we long to know better. Starting with what we can see and touch and smell and feel is a sound way to explore any art or craft, yoga included. Come practice with me, and begin the journey of self-study you were born to conduct in this lifetime."

Isn’t it a nice day for a hot cup of tea? 🍵

Max will be at our P Street co-working space today - Saturday… serving up the most amazing blends.

Bright Hibiscus , Nirvana Calm, down, Spicy 🌶 Chili Pepper, and my favorite Moroccan Mint.

You can stop by for some tea, check into our co-working space or add some yoga to the experience.

Anyone remember the original color of this room? It’s worked so hard for us over the years and has had many hues. We’re loving setting up here by day and getting some mindful work done as we sip our tea and do a little yoga.

Drawing from the Mind’s Eye: A Drawing Series for Yogis

sign up: flowyogacenter.com/events

A 3-part drawing workshop in the Jivamukti Yoga tradition, incorporating mantra study, chanting, sound, connection to our surroundings, light asana practice—and, yes drawing! Bring your favorite drawing paper or journal, dry media (pencils or charcoal), and erasers. Note: we’ll focus on black & white rather than a color palette in this series. All levels are welcome.

Each session includes group study, the signature “Jivamukti Magic 10” warm-up, drawing time and Q & A. Wear comfortable clothes for simple stretching and sketching.

❤️

Session 1:

Fundamentals of Perception - Dive into Maharishi Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra IV.15 (vastu-sāmye citta-bhedāt tayor vibhaktaḥ panthāḥ) to unlock the potential of seeing with our mind’s eye—how it translates into pictorial space on paper and into our lives. We draw from observation of small objects you bring to class.

❤️
Session 2:
Discovering Your Viewpoint - Perception is based on how each individual sees a certain object. This session discusses formal elements such as visual perspective and abstraction as methods of translating what and how an individual perceives. We also explore the classical system of feedback and how it applies to our lives off the mat. We draw from observation of the room or just outside the windows.

❤️
Session 3: Putting It All Together - The hands are extensions of the mind and do the bidding of the heart. Applying our drawing practice into the classic rubric of diagnosis—using vision, touch and inquiry. As in classical traditions, we learn from nature and draw from the human figure.

David C. Yu, earned his M.F.A. from the Yale School of Art, his B.F.A. from Carnegie-Mellon University and is a 375-hour certified teacher in the Jivamukti Yoga Method.
