Capitol City Pharmacy Medical Reserve Corps.

The mission of the Capitol City Pharmacy MRC is to engage volunteers to strengthen public health, emergency response, and community resiliency.

The Capitol City Pharmacy Medical Reserve Corps (CCPMRC) is a group of local pharmacy volunteers in Washington, DC, focused on improving the health and safety of their community. We are the first nationally-recognized pharmacy-specialized MRC. CCPMRC is a collaboration between the Howard University College of Pharmacy and the DC Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Administration. This MRC has been uniquely established in October 2013 to recruit and train volunteers to provide pharmacy-related functions during an emergency situation, and has been established as the first nationally-recognized pharmacy-specialized since 2015. Pharmacy related functions include but are not limited to mass vaccinations, staffing medical point-of-dispensing stations and provision of emergency supply of chronic medications.

📣 The Capitol City Pharmacy Medical Reserve Corps (CCPMRC) is continuing our mission to build community resilience through education and service! 💙💊

This Friday from 9–11 AM, we’ll be visiting Washington Latin Public Charter School (PCS) to educate students about the profession of pharmacy and discuss how drug, smoking, and alcohol use can affect medications.

Our volunteers will be engaging students through hands-on learning activities and discussions that empower the next generation to make informed health decisions.

Through outreach like this, CCPMRC strengthens our community’s preparedness and encourages students to explore careers in healthcare and public health.

Hey everyone! Today, we’ll be hosting our first community service event of the school year at the AARP SW Waterfront Chapter Annual Health Fair 🎉. This is a great chance to get hands-on experience educating seniors while making a real impact in the community.

It was a pleasure connecting with students and sharing tips on emergency preparedness, healthy eating, and more. The students had to memorize their tip and later return to recite it back to us for prizes. Check out the second slide to see the excitement.

The Capitol City MRC is pleased to announce the esteemed Ariel C. Triplett as the 2022-2023 Training Symposium Keynote speaker. Ms.Triplett is the interim director of the Office of Environmental Health and Safety. Currently, she serves as Howard University's director of emergency management and safety. Her career in government and private industry has yielded more than a decade of experience in training, strategic planning, resource analysis and management in disaster preparedness, civic recovery and resilience. Her executive stops include positions with the Department of Health and Human Services, For Our Future Action Fund in Washington D.C., the City of Beverly Hills, Kaiser Permanente, and the Pentagon.
