Earlier in the month, we released our annual Eye Banking Statistical Report - the world's most comprehensive examination of eye banking processes and trends.

With the 2025 numbers calculated, since EBAA's founding in 1961, EBAA eye banks have performed 2,549,946 sight restoring corneal transplants. The ways in which these transplants have transformed and enhanced lives is incalculable!

We thank all our members, donors, and donor families, for their contributions towards our collective mission to worldwide.

The 2025 Eye Banking Statistical Report is free for members and can be purchased by non-members on our website for $250.

April is Donate Life Month and today is Blue & Green Day!

Today the EBAA staff dressed in blue and green along with Donate Life America and the whole transplant community to show collective support for eye, organ, and tissue registration.

This month and all year round we remind you that nearly everyone is eligible to be a cornea donor. There are an estimated 12 million people worldwide suffering from corneal blindness that could be treated with a cornea transplant.

Today, EBAA released the 2025 Eye Banking Statistical Report.

This highly anticipated annual publication represents a complete picture of eye banking activity amongst eye banks.

The report is free for EBAA members, and can be purchased by non-members for $250.

Since EBAA's formation in 1961, member eye banks have supplied tissue for 2,549,946 sight restoring transplants - the life transforming emotional benefit of which is incalculable. Thank you to all the donors, donor families, and eye bankers who make this possible!

Today is National Doctor's Day - at EBAA, we sincerely appreciate ALL our physicians who transform lives by performing sight restoring corneal transplants. Beyond delivering incredible patient care, they volunteer their precious time to EBAA, making sure the entire field of eye banking is proceeding forward properly with the latest innovations and treatments.

This winter, we hosted the Physician Leadership Program (PLP) in Atlanta. The doctors pictured below were identified as emerging leaders who are interested in working with their local EBAA eye bank and learning more about eye banking and being more involved with EBAA.

We love seeing the next generation of corneal surgeons make their mark, and remain grateful to the physicians who have made EBAA a part of their careers.

Thank you to all doctors for your commitment and dedication to your profession and patients.

Funding Alert!

Applications for the 2026 EBAA High Impact Research Grant are open!

To advance innovation and knowledge in sight restoration, eye banking, and cornea transplantation, EBAA provides up to $100,000 in grants each year to fund research in an area of interest to the profession.

For 2026, the EBAA High Impact Research Grant will fund one proposal focused on “Pharmacological Agents to Enhance Corneal Endothelial Cell Health” up to $50,000.

March is Women's History Month. EBAA and eye banking and cornea transplantation is lucky to be filled with impressive, trailblazing women.

One such woman is Marianne Price Ph.D., of the Cornea Research Foundation of America. The first woman (and Valedictorian) to graduate from the University of Notre Dame with an engineering degree, she is also a mother of four, member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, on the Editorial Board of Cornea, and the recipient of EBAA's 2025 R. Townley Paton Award - the association's highest honor for physicians.
