Empowered Health is now excited to offer FIT (Food Sensitivity Testing) through KBMO labs.

Food sensitivities affect an estimated 100 million+ people worldwide. Unrecognized food sensitivities can cause a wide array of symptoms, ranging from anxiety/depression, bloating/stomach pain, weight loss difficulty/cravings, fatigue/insomnia, joint pain, diarrhea/constipation, and many more.
By testing for these sensitivities and removing offending foods, many of these symptoms can be improved or even cured.

Why is this FIT test unique?

Unlike other food sensitivity tests, which only assess for IgG response, KBMO’s unique testing process assesses both IgG response AND immune complex deposition. This provides a clearer picture of TRUE food sensitivities. An IgG-only test can falsely indicate sensitivities that do not actually exist and lead to unnecessary dietary change, nutrient deficiency, and distress.

In addition, this FIT test includes a complementary Gut Barrier Panel at no additional cost, which looks at four key markers of leaky gut: zonulin, candida, occludin, and LPS.

How do I get this test?

We stock the most popular test, the FIT 176, in our office. You can swing by and pick it up anytime to complete and mail in (please just call ahead to let us know). If you are interested in the FIT 132 or FIT 22, we can also have them drop-shipped to your house at no additional cost. See the attached document for the foods that are included with each test option. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vhc1kmuvVYIxlW5DA9O-n2b8VoNJtd5e/view?usp=sharing

How do I get results?

Results usually are back within 14 days. Our office will reach out when we receive them to discuss findings and potentially schedule a virtual or in-person follow-up appointment to discuss your results in detail and form a dietary/supplement plan together.

What is the cost?

Please see the attached form for the cost of each testing option.

We want to empower women in their breastfeeding journey, and part of that is helping them to understand and learn about the complex biological processes that power milk production. By combing breastfeeding education during pregnancy visits with comprehensive postpartum breastfeeding support- a thorough tongue and lip tie assessment, latch support, and referrals to lactation consultants as needed- our care is designed to create an empowering breastfeeding experience that benefits both mom and baby.

There’s an image going around of a lactating breast that is obnoxiously inaccurate πŸ˜– (I’ll share it in the comments). And while it might look β€œreal” at first glance, images like this are exactly why it’s so important to understand and visualize what a milk making breast actually looks like.

When we picture milk as something that sits in big pockets or sacs, it reinforces the myth that milk is stored and can suddenly β€œrun out.” In reality, milk is made continuously, microscopically, and ON DEMAND. Seeing accurate anatomy helps mothers understand that supply is driven by removal and hormones, not by how full the breast looks. It also helps normalize why breasts don’t always feel rock hard, why pumping volumes vary, and why babies can still get milk even when a breast feels soft.

Accurate visuals matter because misinformation, even when it’s subtle, shapes expectations. When AI driven images misrepresent lactation anatomy, they can create confusion, and even self-doubt for breastfeeding mothers. We need images that educate, not dramatize. Milk-making breasts are functional, dynamic, and incredibly smart and they don’t need fake β€œmilk sacs” to prove that. 😚
