There are some basic guidelines you should follow

A common running injury is called iliotibial band syndrome. Plantar fasciitis is also another injury.
Stress fractures can occur from overtraining, lack of vitamins, or even wrong footgear or style.

Preventions
Wearing the correct footgear and the possible orthotics can help with prevention of injury. Making a correct training schedule will help with strengthening the correct muscle group.
